AltBase is a private professional network for verified alumni of AltSchool. It exists for one reason: the network you built during your cohort shouldn't fade the moment you graduate.

Why we built it

Most alumni networks live in a WhatsApp group. That works for chatter and nothing else. Advice gets buried under 500 messages, the person who could unblock you is unreachable because nobody knows what they do now, and opportunities get posted to a group of 200 people at 1 AM and never seen again.

AltBase is the structured layer underneath that. Profiles that are searchable, posts that stay findable, and projects that are still there next month.

What's inside

• Town Hall — the shared feed. Post updates, ask questions, celebrate wins. Markdown, threaded comments, and full-text search, so good advice stays findable.
• Directory — every verified alumnus, filterable by school, track, cohort, and stack.
• Communities — realtime chat rooms for your school and track, plus open interest groups. Mentions, replies, and reactions.
• Opportunities — jobs, gigs, and referrals shared by alumni and the AltBase team.
• Collaboration Board — post the roles your project needs. Interested alumni signal privately instead of commenting in public.
• Events — meetups, workshops, and AMAs across the network, with RSVPs and calendar links.
• Showcase — the work you're proud of, with media and credited collaborators.
• Blog — long-form writing for alumni who want more room than a post.
• Resources — a curated library the community maintains.

Who can join

Anyone who studied at AltSchool, across every track: Frontend, Backend, Cloud, Product, Design, and Data.

Membership is verified. During onboarding you upload your certificate or proof of cohort, a human admin reviews it, and approval usually lands within 24 hours. That review is the whole point: it's what makes AltBase a room of actual alumni rather than another open forum. Once you're approved, we delete the certificate. AltBase is free for alumni, and there is no advertising on it. We don't sell your data and we don't let recruiters or data brokers near it.

Who's building it

AltBase is built by AltSchool alumni, in the open, for the community we came from. It's in active development, and things ship most weeks, see the Changelog for what's landed recently.
