What's shipped on AltBase recently. The platform is in active development, so this page moves often.

July 2026

  • Product tour. Newly approved alumni get a one-time guided walkthrough on first landing, pointing out Town Hall, the Directory, Opportunities, Events, Communities, and their profile.
  • Verified badges. The AltBase team now carries a verification badge across the feed, directory, communities, events, and profiles, so you can tell an official account from any other at a glance. Alumni will be able to request a badge of their own in a future release.
  • Announcements. A dedicated space for platform-wide announcements, with full detail pages and audience targeting so updates reach the right cohorts.
  • Community welcome messages. Each community can greet new members with its own message the moment they join.
  • Opportunity filters and detail pages. Narrow the board down to what's relevant and open a full page per role.
  • Events management. Events can be created, edited, published, and removed, with official AltBase events marked as such.
  • Schools and tracks are now managed in-app. New schools, tracks, and cohorts can be added without a code deploy, so onboarding keeps up with AltSchool.
  • Community selection during onboarding. Choose the communities you want before you land on the platform.
  • Posts keep your spacing. Blank lines in posts and announcements now render exactly as written instead of collapsing.
  • Broadcast emails. Announcements can be sent to specific segments of the network rather than everyone.

June 2026

  • Push notifications. Opt in to browser push for mentions, replies, and community activity, with per-type controls in settings.
  • Realtime community chat. Messages, reactions, and membership changes now sync live over our own socket layer instead of a managed third-party service.
  • Threaded comments. Replies nest properly and are actually followable, with swipe-to-reply on mobile.
  • Mentions in community chat. @mention alumni directly in a community message.
  • Community member lists. See who's actually in a room before you post in it.
  • Blog. A full long-form writing surface with a markdown editor, for when a post isn't enough room.
  • Profile editing. Update your bio, role, links, and stack from settings at any time.
  • Google sign-in. Finish sign-up with a Google account instead of a password.
  • Display and accessibility options. Theme and display preferences moved into the account menu.
  • Promotions billboard. A slot for surfacing alumni projects and opportunities to the network.

Before that

The first version of AltBase, verified onboarding, profiles, Town Hall, the Directory, Communities, the Collaboration Board, Opportunities, Events, Showcase, and Resources, went out to alumni as the MVP.
